A Ministry of the United Methodist Church

Fall Semester, 2008

Weekly Schedule

Sunday Celebration
Sundays, 11:00 AM, August 17 - December 7
(No meeting October 12, November 30)

During this traditional, yet informal, worship service, we seek to address young adults' struggle to merge Christian existence with college life and beyond.

The "Wesley Singers" choir practices at 10:00 - 10:45 AM each Sunday morning, led by Atlanta Opera principal coach and accompanist Craig Kier.

Koinonia
Mondays, 6:00-8:00 PM, September 1 - November 24
(No meeting on October 13)

"Koinonia" is a Greek word that means something between "community" and "fellowship." Our time together begins at 6:00 PM with a free dinner. The program begins at 6:30 PM with praise and worship, followed by a lesson, discussion, or activity.

A Look at The Book
Tuesdays, 11:00 AM, September 2 - November 17
(No meeting on October 14)

"A Look at the Book" is a Bible Study that will not insult your intelligence! We will take an academic approach in our Study of Colossians, Ephesians, and Philemon.

Artos
Thursdays, 11:00 AM, August 21 - December 4

Artos is the Greek word for "bread" - and during this contemplative service of prayer, you will be invited to feast on the Bread of Life as revealed in Scripture, proclaimed in song, and experienced in the context of a community gathered around the table. (Free lunch is provided.)

God and the New Atheists
Thursdays, 7:15 - 8:30 PM, September 4 - October 9

We will explore the writings of several best-selling "new atheist" authors who argue that God is a delusion and that religion poisons everything. The ideas of these authors will be compared to the writings of several "classic atheists" (Nietzsche, Freud, Marx, Sartre, and others) as well as the writings of some contemporary theologians.

Bach and Forth: Classical Music Appreciation
Thursdays, 7:15 - 8:30 PM, October 16 - November 20

A survey of classical music from the Baroque to contemporary, with a little discussion and a lot of listening! Offered in a coffeehouse setting, this is a good time for studying, light reading, etc.
